Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League hopes are currently alive and kicking after Christian Eriksen’s late goal secured victory over Inter Milan at Wembley this evening.
Spurs were heading out of the competition, with the must-win match still goalless deep into the second half.
But Eriksen broke the deadlock at Wembley in the 80th minute to keep Mauricio Pochettino’s side in with a chance of progressing.
The Denmark international fired in from close range after Moussa Sissoko’s charge into the box and Dele Alli’s back-to-goal layoff for Eriksen.
Manchester United
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s over-exuberant celebrations after Marouane Fellaini’s injury-time winner against Young Boys last night have been reworked as the cover of The Clash’s album London Calling.
In the wake of Fellaini’s goal, Mourinho kicked and then picked up a crate of water bottle and slammed it into the Old Trafford touchline.
The incident has now been Photoshopped into the London Calling artwork, which originally showed The Clash’s bassist Paul Simonon smashing his Fender Precision Bass into the stage at a gig in New York.
Liverpool
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti picked up a yellow card for this naughty challenge on Liverpool’s Joe Gomez during this evening’s Champions League game at Parc des Princes.
The Italy international was arguably fortunate to avoid a straight red card after crashing into the England international’s shin with his studs.
With the scoreline 0-0 at the time of the challenge, the match might have run a very different course if Verratti had been given his marching orders.
