UEFA CHAMPIONSLEAGUE

Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League hopes are currently alive and kicking after Christian Eriksen’s late goal secured victory over Inter Milan at Wembley this evening.

Spurs were heading out of the competition, with the must-win match still goalless deep into the second half.

But Eriksen broke the deadlock at Wembley in the 80th minute to keep Mauricio Pochettino’s side in with a chance of progressing.

The Denmark international fired in from close range after Moussa Sissoko’s charge into the box and Dele Alli’s back-to-goal layoff for Eriksen.

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s over-exuberant celebrations after Marouane Fellaini’s injury-time winner against Young Boys last night have been reworked as the cover of The Clash’s album London Calling.

In the wake of Fellaini’s goal, Mourinho kicked and then picked up a crate of water bottle and slammed it into the Old Trafford touchline.

The incident has now been Photoshopped into the London Calling artwork, which originally showed The Clash’s bassist Paul Simonon smashing his Fender Precision Bass into the stage at a gig in New York.

Liverpool

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti picked up a yellow card for this naughty challenge on Liverpool’s Joe Gomez during this evening’s Champions League game at Parc des Princes.

The Italy international was arguably fortunate to avoid a straight red card after crashing into the England international’s shin with his studs.

With the scoreline 0-0 at the time of the challenge, the match might have run a very different course if Verratti had been given his marching orders.

Arsenal training ground

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker and Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus were in action at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground today.

The pair of set to feature for Brazil in a friendly against Uruguay at the Emirates Stadium on Friday evening.

They were at the Gunners’ training base today to start their preparations for the match. They were joined by Alisson’s club-mates Fabinho and Roberto Firmino and City stars Ederson and Danilo.

Superstar team-mate Neymar was allowed to sit out the session after arriving late from his duties with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

England – Croatia

England came from behind to record a 2-1 win over Croatia in their Nations League decider this afternoon.

The Three Lions fell behind to Andrej Kramaric’s deflected shot after the former Leicester City man twisted and turned to find space in the penalty box in the 57th minute.

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard tapped in the equaliser after Harry Kane got on the end of a long throw-in.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane then slid in to convert Ben Chilwell’s free-kick.

Ousmane_Dembele.jpg

Barcelona defender

Liverpool are lining up an £85m bid for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele, according to The Sun. So what would the Reds be getting for their money?

Dembele is a 21-year-old France international, who has 20 caps and two goals for his country. He was part of Les Bleus’ World Cup-winning squad.

Born in Vernon, Normandy, Dembele came through the youth ranks at Rennes. After a season in the reserves, he enjoyed a breakout season in 2015/16, scoring 12 goals in 26 Ligue 1 appearances.

That form earned him a transfer to Borussia Dortmund. He scored six goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances, was named in the team of the season and won the rookie of the season award.

Dembele spent just one season in Germany before making his move to Barcelona. The Catalan giants were keen to sign attacking talent to replace Neymar following his world record move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Barca paid a reported €105m plus €40m in add-ons to get their man and now Liverpool is after him.

England is Blue

Before talking about England, I would like to mention that UCA Men’s Soccer won the regular season yesterday for the first time in the schools history, now back to England.

Manchester City

Manchester City maintained their unbeaten start to the season and moved back to the top of the Premier League table with victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley this week.

Riyad Mahrez scored the only goal of the game as champions City recorded a narrow win against Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs.

Algeria international Mahrez converted Raheem Sterling’s cross to give his side a sixth-minute lead that they kept for the remainder of the game.

Liverpool

Arsenal and Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium yesterday evening. The Gunners extended their unbeaten streak in all competitions to 13 games, while the Reds maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Given they required a late equalizer from Alexandre Lacazette to earn a point, it is the hosts who will have been happier with the results.

Mesut Ozil

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has suggested he is open to the idea of a transfer to a Turkish club. The former Germany international came close to the end of his contract with the Gunners earlier this year, but ultimately signed a new deal tying him to the north Londoners until June 2021. Quizzed on the prospect of a move to the country of his ethnic heritage on Twitter, Ozil didn’t want to rule it out. He wrote: “Difficult question! But I would say… never say never!”

Manchester United

Zlatan ibrahimovic.jpg

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is playing for LA Galazy in the American league MLS and which I hope everyone knows who it is. Got rejected by the speculations that he is getting resigned to Manchester United by the coach Jose Mourinho.

The Swedish veteran, aged 37, has been touted for a return to Old Trafford in a loan move during the Major League Soccer close season.

Ibrahimovic has impressed for LA Galaxy since leaving United at the start of the year, scoring 22 goals in 26 MLS appearances.

But asked about the prospect of bringing the former Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Barcelona and Ajax back to the club, Mourinho delivered a firm rebuttal.

Asked if he thought a deal to sign Ibrahimovic was possible, he replied: “No.”

A question asking whether he would consider such a deal, he delivered the same answer.

Bringing Ibrahimovic back was reported to have been under consideration to ease the workload on out-of-form Romelu Lukaku and increase United’s goal threat. But Mourinho’s comments suggest that an Old Trafford comeback is not on the cards for Zlatan.

Liverpool

Inside Information

Hi fellas, no games was played this week but I will talk about some interesting facts that happened last week.

Manchester City

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola says he was unaware of Riyad Mahrez’s poor penalty-taking record before he missed an 85th-minute spot-kick against Liverpool Last week.

Mahrez’s miss was one for the books, after his missed penalty he is officially the second worst penalty-taker in Premier League history among those who have taken more than 10. Mahrez has only scored 7 out of his 12 penalties in the Premier League, which leaves him with a conversion rate of 57 %.

But Guardiola says he didn’t know about Mahrez’s previous failures when he selected him to take the penalty kick at Anfield on Sunday last week.

The game between Manchester City and Liverpool ended 0-0.

Chelsea

Eden Hazard, one of the most valuable player in the Premier league and the biggest star in his team is leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid.

But the attacking midfielder says he will not be making the switch during the January transfer window.

During the press conference this weekend he said that he believes that he has to quit playing for Chelsea to establish himself as the best player in the world and win the Ballon d’Or which is the trophy for the best football player in the world and yes I said football.

Man United and Arsenal

Manchester United Vs Newcastle United

Manchester United came from 0-2 down to a 3-2 win over Newcastle United in the Saturday’s kick-off in the Premier League.

Early goals from Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto put the Newcastle at a 0-2 lead over Manchester in the first 10 minutes at Old Trafford.

That was the way it stay until the 70th minute, when Juan Mata pulled a goal back. Anthony Martial equalised on 76 minutes, before Alexis Sanchez scored a last-minute winner.

Fullham Vs Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey scored the goal of the game as Unai Emery’s (the Coach) men made it nine wins in all competitions with this 5-1 victory over Fulham.

Alexandre Lacazette gave the visitors the lead on 29 minutes.

Both sides then had chances to net the second goal of the match, with Fulham striker Andre Schurrle slicing an effort narrowly wide.

But moments later, the German made no mistake as he lobbed the ball over Bernd Leno, having been put through by Luciano Vietto’s delicate through ball.

However, Lacazette restored Arsenal’s advantage four minutes into the second half as his 25-yard effort found its way past Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.

And Ramsey added his goal of the season contender on 68 minutes to put the game to bed.

The Spanish defender then fed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the former Borussia Dortmund man’s low cross was put in the back of the net.

Fellow substitute Aubameyang scored the last goal in the game.

Manchester United

The relationship between Mourinho (The manager) and Pogba (A player) hit a new low this week. They have been going head to head since the day Mourinho became Manchester United’s Coach. The United boss stripped the France international of his vice-captaincy duties, then clashed on the training ground in front of TV cameras.

Paul Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, is set to meet Manchester United officials in November to discuss his client’s future at the club. If he is told there is no prospect of Mourinho leaving, he is expected to start negotiating the Pogba’s exit. He wants to know whether United would be willing to let Pogba go in January or next summer.

Pogba vs mourinho.jpgManchester City

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho says he chose a move to Stamford Bridge over a transfer to Premier League champions Manchester City because of the chance to link up with Maurizio Sarri.

The Italy international worked with Sarri at Napoli for three years.

He had looked set to move to the Etihad Stadium and was Pep Guardiola’s top midfield target. His agent later admitted that a deal had been agreed between the player and City, but not between City and Napoli.
